7. Moonlgiht Drive
Of course I would put my group in the top, why wouldn't I? Which new hip hop artist would not do this?haha. Anyways, our style mixes trance, techno, electric with lay back hip hop. We try to experiment with as many genres as we can. Here is our websites:
6. Johnny Polygon
Discovered him at the Kid Cudi concert in L.A, Polygon had a wicked, funky style. Think about Slim Shady type flows with a smooth singing voice. His mixtape, "Rebel Without Applause" was very entertaining. Johnny keeps it super real in his raps, and pretty much does not give an "F" what you think about him. "Call me Listerine, cause time I spit my shit is clean" is line from Johnny Ploy that has my sister recited every 15 minutes haha. Here are some websites:
5. Asher Roth
With his "I Love College" song, he became one the the top sought out rap artist of 2009. Although very talented, it is still hard for me to get over the fact the he sounds a lot like Eminem. I think the reason is because I was way into Slim Shady in my younger days. Sorry Roth, I still dig your style. Here are some websites:
4. B.o.B
I first heard him on Madden 10 and as of recently, I have been hearing a lot of him on the radio. His song, "Nothin' On You" is #1 in iTunes. It features Bruno Mars on the hook. The song is very catching. All you need is to hear it one time and you'll be humming the chorus. Here are the websites I found on him:
3. Sam Adams
I just recently found this guy in iTunes. It was not that hard because...I dont know...he had the #4 album in iTunes last week! Although now he dropped to the #18 spot, he is still has the #2 album in the hip hop/rap section of iTunes. He style is a mixture of electronica and hip hop. Here is one website I found:
2. Kid Cudi
We all know "Day 'n' Nite" and how much we all bumped it. Espescially the Crookers remix (my favorite). I just recently went to a show of his at the Nokia Club, and it was SIK!! Cudi got down. A very much different style of hip hop, but very enjoyable. After releasing his debut album "Man On The Moon - The End of Days" 6 months ago, his album still remains at #7 in the hip hop/rap section of iTunes. Here are some websites:
1. Drake
In terms of popularity, Drake is coming up!! This guy hasn't even put out an album and everybody and they mamas know about him. With very successful mixtapes, Drake is becoming one of most noticable new rappers. His highly anticipated album, "Thank Me Later" is set to drop ealry May, following a nationwide tour (I'll be at Nokia Club May 13, watching him preform). Here are some websites:
Those are my top 7 hip hop artists, hope you checked them out and downloaded their music (legally of course haha). If you want to contact me, my email is moonlightdr1@gmail.com
